​Dr Silvana Campanella

Paediatrician, Te Puaruruhau 

Silvana Campanella, FCP (South Africa) is a Paediatrician working at Te Puaruruhau, the Child Protection team at Starship Children's Hospital. She trained in South Africa, and worked for 6 years in a Children's Emergency Department in Johannesburg, first as a consultant paediatrician and then as Head of Department. She has worked as a general paediatrician in New Zealand since 1995, and in child protection since 1999.

​Silvana has been providing undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the diagnosis and management of child abuse for many years, and has given evidence many times as an expert witness in criminal proceedings.
